We are looking for an accessibility and events coordinator

Would you like to help make the performing arts more accessible to more people?

CPH STAGE is looking for an engaged colleague who is passionate about creating great experiences and strengthening the festival’s work with accessibility, community and audience engagement. You will play a central role in developing and delivering audience-focused initiatives before, during and after the festival. These include accessibility measures, events and partnerships, where you will help create the framework to enable even more people to take part in and feel welcome at CPH STAGE.

We imagine that you:

  1. Have experience in project coordination or developing audience-focused activities within the cultural, events or experiences sector
  2. Have an interest in audience development, user involvement and accessibility
  3. Are good at building relationships and collaborating across organisations and with different target groups
  4. Can turn ideas into concrete activities and see them through from planning to delivery and evaluation
  5. Keep up to date with event formats and audience initiatives
  6. Work in a structured way and have an eye for both detail and the overall experience
  7. Thrive in a role where strategy, development and practical tasks go hand in hand
  8. Have strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience from the cultural sector is an advantage, but not a requirement. What matters most is that you are curious about the relationship between the performing arts and audiences, and that you are motivated by creating relevant, inclusive and meaningful experiences.

Your main responsibilities

  1. Develop and coordinate the festival’s work to reach new audience groups
  2. Plan and deliver audience-focused events and activities in connection with the festival
  3. Lead and further develop the festival’s accessibility initiatives in collaboration with relevant partners and venues
  4. Contribute to the development of new initiatives that can attract and engage different audience groups
  5. Gather audience insights and translate them into concrete recommendations and initiatives
  6. Participate in collaborations with cultural organisations, associations and communities of interest

You will be part of the communications team, and all tasks will be carried out in close dialogue with the Head of Communications and the rest of the festival team. At the same time, you will have plenty of opportunity to shape the area yourself and develop new formats and initiatives.

What we offer

Organising a festival is a team effort, and at our small festival office we work closely together to create the best possible conditions for the festival, our audiences and each other.

With us, you will have the opportunity to work with audience development in practice and help shape how one of Denmark’s largest performing arts festivals engages with its audiences. You will become part of an organisation with high ambitions, short lines of communication and room for new ideas.

There are periods when we are very busy and the pace is high. In return, we place great importance on a working environment characterised by trust, collaboration and realistic expectations. We hope you will want to be part of it.

About CPH STAGE

CPH STAGE is Denmark’s largest theatre festival for professional performing arts and takes place every year in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. Over ten days, the festival brings together audiences, artists and industry professionals around a programme of performances, events, debates, talks and international guest performances. Since 2013, the festival has worked to raise the profile of Danish performing arts and create new encounters between the arts and audiences.

For many years, the festival has worked strategically to make theatre more accessible. This has included partnerships, events, group visits, captioned performances and more, all of which support our ambition to open up theatre to as many people as possible.

Practical information

This is a permanent part-time position on salaried employee terms, with an average working week of 17 hours (equivalent to five months of full-time employment per calendar year). Working hours will vary at different times, particularly around the festival, with any additional hours taken as time off in lieu afterwards.

The position is due to start on November 1 or as soon as possible thereafter. We will be inviting candidates for interviews on an ongoing basis and will close applications once we have found the right person.

If you have any questions, including questions regarding salary, you are very welcome to contact Head of Communications Signe Demant Hansen at signe@cphstage.com

CPH STAGE is committed to promoting equality and diversity within the sector. We therefore encourage all qualified candidates to apply, regardless of ethnic background, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion or age.
