Why work with diversity? - Interview and Roundtable with Back to Back Theatre

Join us for an interview and roundtable conversation with Bruce Gladwin, Artistic Director of the world-renowned and award-winning Australian company Back to Back Theatre. The company visits Copenhagen on May 30th and 31st, 2025, with their production "The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes", presented in collaboration with Toaster, CPH Stage, and REPUBLIQUE.

The session will be facilitated by Alexander Meinertz, beginning with an interview focusing on best practices in inclusive theatre-making, followed by an informal roundtable discussion with professionals from across the performing arts sector, including representatives from funding bodies and cultural institutions.

Back to Back Theatre has received broad national and international acclaim for its groundbreaking work in inclusive performance. The ensemble consists of actors who identify as intellectually disabled or neurodivergent, and the company describes its practice as a celebration of human potential. Today, Back to Back is regarded as one of Australia’s most influential cultural institutions. Their previous visits to Denmark include "SMALL METAL OBJECTS" at Metropolis in 2007 and "THE DEMOCRATIC SET" at Aarhus Festuge in 2010.
