In "SOIL", Sarah Aviaja Hammeken explores what happens to a person's self-perception when they fundamentally identify with a culture whose language they have not been given. When do you become part of a culture and who is it that you long to be recognized by?
The language Kalaallisut (Greenlandic) and the continuous journey of mastering it is central to Hammeken's work with "SOIL" - a bodily exploration of communication, its power and its nuances.
