Welcome to CPH STAGE's opening performance, where a new epidemic has spread – a dance fever.
In French Compagnie Dyptik's performance, society stands on the threshold of a new post-pandemic era - one filled with hope and longing for renewal. But the dancers' bodies, once full of energy, are now stagnant and separate, heavy with isolation and the constant demands of modern life.
With high tempo and intensity, "Le Grand Bal" reboots the bodies. A dance fever spreads from the hall - like a modern interpretation of a mysterious dance epidemic that took over the streets of Strasbourg in 1518. In the performance the dancers come together for a ceremony that moves between light and dark, building up to a collective trance.
"Le Grand Bal" is a breathtaking and frenetic performance - a liberation of the body. Created by choreographers Souhail Marchiche and Mehdi Meghari, the performance fuses modern dance and hip hop to create a unique expression.
"Le Grand Bal" has received high praise around Europe and has among other places played at the Biennale de la Danse in Lyon.
Tickets for the performance are sold through our Swapcard platform.
