Description
Experience dance taken to completely new heights when five strong rope artists create an alluring, vertical universe.
In the critically acclaimed “Axial Figures,” a weightless choreography unfolds on stage. Inspired by the playful axes of architecture, the artists form shifting, acrobatic formations as they merge into one synchronous body.
The result is an ever-changing world of clean lines and kaleidoscopic patterns that remind us that as humans we are all connected and dependent on each other. Because what happens when we build something together and someone suddenly lets go? “Axial Figures” is a feat of strength where the systems can only function through everyone’s active participation. If one breaks out, the whole thing falls apart.
"Axial Figures" is a co-production with Bora Bora and Dansehallerne.
The performance is curated and presented by CPH STAGE in collaboration with Wired Studio and Dansekapellet.

What is particularly fascinating about "Axial Figures" is how the floating choreography in the air creates a sensuous and almost transcendent experience. It is beautiful, simple and well executed! Without a single word, we are presented with bodies that defy gravity and leave space to dream. It is hard not to be touched by "Axial Figures". The performance leaves the audience somewhere between hypnotized immersion and meditative calmness. That's why "Axial Figures" gets our big recommendation in this year's program.
