THE COMPANY: HILDE INGEBORG SANDVOD

Hilde Ingeborg Sandvold, is a Norwegian dance artist, based in Denmark. She got her official education from The Danish National School of Performing Arts. Working as a dancer, she has collaborated with a vast number of choreographers and companies. Her own work consists of a number of shorter solo works, and a couple of company collaborations, performed in different contexts throughout Europe. She also holds workshops, talks, and write texts. A goal in Hildes practice, is to continue to develop her own materials while also participating as a performer and collaborator in others work. This, to ensure deepening of knowledge from more than one point of view.

​«I love to move my body, this is how dance got me. What made me stay, was the discovery that through the knowledge of dance, I could understand and enjoy movement in everything. Movement of thoughts, ideas, sounds, things and bodies. Dance has become a pair of glasses, that I can use to understand and challenge the world, and my view of it. Like a palette with all colors, like a room where thought and imagination is allowed to be seen as equals to what is often referred to as «the real world», or more precisely, «the shared reality». INTERNATIONAL STRATEGY

Hilde is passionate about sharing her work in a broad range of contexts. She work with relatable themes, and create art to facilitate processes of reflection. Meeting with local audiences from different cultural backgrounds, from cities and villages, younger and older, gives perspective on the thematics of the piece, the methods, and the language through which she communicate. To reach the goal of a broad range of venues, she is eaching into her network, and creating versions of the piece with a range of technical and economical needs.

To ensure true exchange, she would like to meet audiences through several formats (where possible): the performance, a workshop, a talk and an artist-talk. The workshop is an introduction to the practices behind the work on stage. Open to all audiences. The talk presents tools for creation, geared towards a professional audience from all fields of art.

FORMAT AND SUSTAINABILITY

The piece is created for a stage with the minimum size of 8×8 meters. It has a small and simple set that travels with the production. The main part of the set is a row of LED-lamps, known to last and be energy-efficient. The touring crew prefers to travel as environmentally-friendly as possible. The production can tour with 2 or 3 people: Hilde I. Sandvold + touring technician and Niklas Valenti (dancer). The role of Niklas in the piece can be done by a local performer, to lower travel costs, environmental impact, and to increase interaction with the local scene.

Nonverbal, and spoken text in English.

AUDIENCE TARGET GROUP(S)

The piece is created for a general, adult audience. Suggested age is 15 years and up. The piece has been performed for school-groups, including artist-talk tailored to them.
