This year’s opening show is the strong and vibrant performance FORTUNE. A true tour de force of passion and movement that takes us on a journey through India like a road movie, illustrating the wonder of life with a chain of images, impressions, and moments.
In FORTUNE, the dancers and the musicians each go in the search of the meaning of the wonderful gifts of life.
The dance performance is created in a collaboration between the dance company Club Guy & Roni and Mumbai-based Navdhara India Dance Theatre. The music is inspired by the many colors of India. The Dutch ensemble HIIIT (former Slagwerk Den Haag) play music by Indian composers, which perfectly captures the atmosphere of some of India's buzzing metropolis.
FORTUNE opens the festival, and in connection with the premiere, you can listen to the festival's opening speeches in the foyer from 19:00 and enjoy a drink while you listen. After the performance, we extend FORTUNE's cross-cultural vibe when DJ Saima plays a set of global tunes. Here she will fuse the pulsating rhythms of Afrobeat with the rich melodies of desi music in a celebration of diversity.

FORTUNE opens up dance to the audience by inviting us up close. It is immediately about people. Dutch dance company Club Guy & Roni chose several years ago to leave Eurocentric storytelling behind to seek out global voices - with empathy and curiosity. Their encounter with India and the Navdhara India Dance Theatre forms a celebration of one of the core Indian values - community. CPH STAGE's intention with the performance is to connect you in Denmark with the voices of the world through art, at a time when a deeper understanding of who each other are is most needed.
