ROOM 4.1 LIVE is an immersive total theatre experience that emanates from our dark and humorous web series ROOM 4.1. We find ourselves on a film set, where the director is working with a story about Vincent, who is hospitalized to escape from an overwhelming reality. In a big scenography that turns 360°, we are exposed to the quirky characters and as we get sucked into this man’s mind venture, the boundaries between reality and fiction blur. We get up close and personal with the production and see how the actors and the technique work together with jaw-dropping timing. The mix of performance art, video, physical theatre, installation art and absurdity appeals to an audience, who likes to be entertained and surprised.

The performance contains swearing, nudity, sexual violence and violence.

THE CONTEXT

In this work, I am allowing the audience to take a good look into my mind as a creator of the episodes ROOM 4.1. This is highly personal and in that sense global and hopefully relevant. I hope, the audience will experience the struggle, the vulnerability, the doubt as well as the urge and egoistic ecstacy you feel, when putting forward your work of art. ROOM 4.1 LIVE is created in multiple dimensions, tune in and it will grab you.

INTERNATIONAL STRATEGY

Kristján Ingimarsson Company has many years of touring experience all over the world with several performances. This performance – ROOM 4.1 LIVE – was co-produced with success in 2022 in a large-scale stage format with Borgarleikhúsið (The Reykjavík City Theatre) in Iceland, and now we are looking for other international collaborators who are interested in co-producing the performance. The frame for co-producing is that we provide the scenography and approx. 4 performers/technicians from the Danish team and then a team of performers and technicians from the host venue will be incorporated. The performance is in English and the web series ROOM 4.1, which is non-verbal, is an extension of the performance and is advantageously published by the venue in relation to the presentation of ROOM 4.1 LIVE.

FORMAT AND SUSTAINABILITY

The co-production format as carried out in Reykjavík in 2022 reduces the number of people needing transport to and from Denmark to only four, as the rest of the performance team is provided by the hosting venue. The scenography is reused every time and only small adjustments regarding costumes are needed.
