Why Me? is a monologue about cancer. The play is based on performing actress Christina Seldens own medical history and her personal experiences making the play extremely authentic and intense. Written and Directed by Kamilla Wargo Brekling, the text takes us through all the tough parts of being a cancer patient. The fears, the pains the loneliness. At the same time Christina brings hope and even joy out of her story. Why Me? is designed to be playable at any venue before any size of audience.
The play premiered in Danish in 2021 and have been very well received by the audience and critics alike. We look forward to presenting our English version at Copenhagen Stage as a platform for bringing it to audiences abroad.

FORMAT AND SUSTAINABILITY
WHY ME? is produced to a very minimalistic and intimate format in order to focus on the told story and empathize the close contact between actor and audience. It can be played in almost any room regardless of light and space. The entire act can be transported in a suitcase by the actress herself and without a single assistant, technician or stage hand. Thus the performance is extremely sustainable in both ecological, social and financial perspective, without compromising on the artistic quality of the performance. On the contrary: The minimalistic format is an active artistic choice well suited for the play.
